Brief History

College of Agriculture, Bhilwara (Rajasthan) came into existence on 19th July, 2013 for UG Programme in Agriculture. Administrative sanction has been accorded for 28 posts by the Government of Rajasthan vide order no. P.1(1)Agriculture-3/2013 dated 22.05.2013. College is located in village- Suwana, Bhilwara, which is about 13 km from Railway station and 12 Km from Bus stand.

Intake Capacity

Present intake capacity of students is 72 in B.Sc. (Ag) Hons. i.e. 50 normal and 22 payment seats through JET. The reservation for SC, ST, OBC and Women candidates is as per GOR rules.

Admission

First batch of B.Sc. (Ag) Hons. Part – Ist, was started in academic session 2013-14.

Land Allotment

In Suwana village (Teh. - Bhilwara), a total of 28.37 ha (112.13 Bighas) land was allotted by GOR vide District Collector order no. F12-(1)(Budget)/RA/2013/ 32 dated 05.09.2013 for construction of new college building and instructional farms. The land use of allotted land is as follows. Buildings- 7.0 ha Instructional farms- 21.37 ha

Buildings

The total forecast estimates is Rs 71 crores for buildings (college, hostels for boys and girls, residential quarters, roads and drainage system). Out of which, Rs 23 crores will be for college building ( G +2 ). Currently G+1 i.e. Construction of ground floor, administrative block and first floor is completed.

Instructional farms

The total land allotted to instructional farms is 21.37 ha, out of which 11.67 , 6.16 and 3.54 ha land is being allotted to Agronomy, Horticulture and Livestock & poultry farms, respectively in accordance to the recommendations of 5th Deans committee for UG programmes. However, more land is required for upgradation of this college for Post-Graduation Degree in future. For this purpose, a proposal has already been submitted for allotment of 10 ha land in Agarpura village of Haled Panchayat (Teh. - Bhilwara) to District Collector (Letter No. COA/BHL/2014/769-772, dated 13.10.2014). This land is near to presently allotted land for the college. For development of Instructional farms two projects entitled “Establishment of instructional farms at COA, Bhilwara ( Rs 5.24 crores) and Promoting backyard poultry for nutritional and livelihood security in Rajasthan” (Rs 2.27 crores) have been sanctioned under RKVY, GOR.

About University

Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur (MPUAT), the second Agricultural University of the state, (initially named as Agricultural University, Udaipur) came into existence on 1st November, 1999 by bifurcation of the Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner through promulgation of Government of Rajasthan Ordinance No. 6 of 1999, which became an Act in May, 2000. This has been done in view of wide physiographic variation including crops, cropping pattern, climate, soil parameters, etc. in the largest state of the country. Moreover, it was difficult to manage stipulated task of teaching, research and extension activities as per the mandate set-forth through a single University in the state. Besides this, it provides new fillip to location specific programmes more suited to tribal belt specifically for the southern Rajasthan.
